Whatâs New in 2020 for Ocean City?
In a resort destination like Ocean City, Maryland, thereâs always something new and exciting for tourists and locals to enjoy during the upcoming summer season. In 2019 we saw additions such as Aloft Hotel, Bad Monkey in West OC, Shottiâs Point, and safety barriers on the Boardwalk and at the Inlet.Â
As we count down the days, looking forward to the summer of 2020, weâre excited to see what the new year will bring to our favorite beach town!
New Ocean City Hotels
Carousel Group
While the Carousel Group has been an Ocean City staple for years, the oceanfront hotel group has acquired two new buildings this year. The Carousel Group will now manage both the Cayman Suites on 125th St. and the Fenwick Inn on 138th St.Â
Cambria Hotel
As you cross the 50 Bridge you will see the construction of the Cambria Hotel, located on 1st and Bay Street. The Cambria will be an eight-story hotel, equipped with bars and dining areas, as well as an indoor and outdoor pool.
Tru Hotel
TRU by Hilton is located on 33rd Street, a five-story hotel that is replacing Planet Maze and Lost Galaxy Golf.Â
New Restaurants in Ocean City
Black Salt Bistro
A new restaurant is coming to Ocean City in 2020, Black Salt Bistro will replace the old Oceanview American Grill on 17th Street.Â
Motherâs Cantina
Motherâs Cantina is also expanding to a second location on 78th Street.
Alley Oops
After a successful year at their first location, Alley Oops has decided to expand and open a second location on 56th St. which will replace OC Brewing.Â
Ocean City Developments
Hooperâs Shopping Plaza
2019 brought Starbucks to the corner lot of the Hooperâs Shopping Plaza located on Rt. 50, the remaining spots are filling up quickly with great new additions to West Ocean City.Â
Gordmanâs
Similar to other Peebles locations throughout the Delmarva, the Peebles on 11561 Coastal Hwy. will be replaced with a Gordmanâs in 2020. Gordmanâs is a department store that boasts âbigger brands and smaller prices at every turn.â
Redevelopment of 45th St.Â
In 2019, the town of Ocean City approved plans for more outdoor dining and retail space near 45th Street Taphouse, O.C. Steamers restaurants, and Aloft hotel. The plans include 4,720 sq. feet of retail space, with 3,318 sq. feet of open, unenclosed rooftop outdoor dining. There will also be a reconfiguring of the O.C. Steamers building to create more outdoor space for 45th Street Taphouse, resulting in 16,573 sq. feet of open, outdoor dining.Â
