Professional Bull Riding in Ocean City, MD
For the first time EVER, Ocean City will host professional rodeo bull riding. The Bull on the Beach event is put together by Professional Bull Riders (PBR) and Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA). Where will this take place you might ask? The Inlet Lot, of course!
The Inlet Lot in Ocean City will be transformed with an arena, lots of dirt, and bleachers to accommodate the crowds and give you the best views. There are three types of tickets available for purchase—general admission, preferred seating near the chutes, and VIP tickets with catered food, beer, and wine in a covered tent with the best view and an invite to the after-party.
The Explore Experience
Now that the weekend has come and gone, we’ve got all the details about what it was actually like in town if you missed it!
The Jellyfish Festival
The live music was a hit with local stars like the headliner Jimmy Charles whose original songs were great to dance along to and whose soulful voice resonated on the beach. Cody Clayton Eagle, the 20-year-old country singer from West Virginia, also played a handful of originals and covers that got the crowd singing and up dancing in front of the stage. The DJ between sets kept the crowd engaged with fun remixes of radio hits.
The cornhole competition was intense but stayed fun and lighthearted. Even though it ended earlier in the day, the setup was left for festival-goers to enjoy and play during the show.
There were sales of cute and colorful Jellyfish Festival merchandise, and beverages like Twisted Tea, Coors, and Miller Lite. Unfortunately, day two on Sunday was not able to take place because of the high winds on the beach but Saturday was a blast!
Shore Craft Beer Fest
The turnout was great for the full four hours with VIP tickets sold out a couple of days before the festival began. Although it was hot, the crowd showed up to try craft beers from over 10 local breweries on the Eastern Shore. Hoop Tea thrived with refreshing beer alternatives, Big Oyster Brewery always had a line for those wanting more, and people loved gathering around the Blue Earl Brewing Company from Smyrna, Delaware to hear from the lead brewer.
Rasta Country had a crowd set up in beach chairs under umbrellas to enjoy the music and loved getting to see the drummer Zeb who once played in Bob Marley’s the Wailers band and with other stars like Kenny Chesney.
Professional Bull Riding
All three days at the Inlet Parking Lot had a solid crowd filled with cowboy hats and boots for Ocean City’s first-ever professional bull riding event. A horseback rider took to the center of the arena ready to take on a raging bull. When the bull came out, the lasso was ready and whipping through the air until it landed around the bull’s neck and corralled him in.
Brave professionals sat behind the gate, ready to jump on the running and jumping bulls to put on a show. The display was thrilling and no one got hurt, so that’s a win in my book!
